After 30 years of dreaming to come here… we finally made it. “Awesome.” Thank you so much.

PHILLIDA EIVERS, NEW ZEALAND

CHARLIE AND CHERIE LENEGAN AND FRIENDS, USA

Many thanks once again for another fabulous safari. The interaction with the wild dogs and the lions was wonderful as was our finding the leopard. Such a special place. Thank you so much, John.

BRECK KELLER, 13 YEARS OLD

I would like to give you all the thanks I could possibly ever give for this trip. You have made my African experiences so rich and so memorable. We shared so many stories, jokes, games and smiles together. This year I thought would be the “Year of the Lion” since we saw a lion every day we were here… this trip was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Thank you guys so, so much.

WYATT KELLER, 9 YEARS OLD

Our stay has been amazing. Tracking the lion was a really cool experience. I will never forget my first time in Africa and Mana Pools with you. I can’t wait to come back.

GRACE KELLER, 11 YEARS OLD

JOANN GSCHWENDTNER, USA

John – we had a whale of a time – many laughs and fabulous sightings! “Same time next year!”

SALLY DUNN – August 2012

How can I put into words how I feel about my first trip to Africa? You have taken such great care to give me a time here that is so unique, so special, and so genuine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now I know – T.I.A. (This is Africa). Can’t wait to see you again.

BARB COSTIGAN – August 2012

Words cannot fully describe the phenomenal safari trip you arranged for us. I arrived home last night and am in a bit of a daze. Disappointed not to have a wake up call this AM with tea and cookies 🙂 I can’t begin presently to go into all the details but each location was amazing for different reasons. The common denominator was the beautiful people who took care of every imaginable need and then some. Our guides, all different, were equally amazing and felt like friends after 2 days together.

Nairobi National Park was a gem and so glad we started there. Emakoko was lovely with substituted hosts, Rachel and Chris. Newton, our guide, was terrific and shared so much information with us. We saw so many animals there, we were amazed.

Can’t thank you enough. All the transfers were seamless. It was truly amazing how you made it all work behind the scenes.

So Nicci thank you again for being a genius planner and keep us in the loop. I will be recommending you without reservation.

TOM ADDISON – August 2012

I must tell you that getting to know you and John, Sarah and Milo and your friends was the high light of my ten days in your beautiful country. The open friendliness of everyone I met made me feel like family, welcome and comfortable throughout my stay.

In addition, the insight and creativity you, Sarah and Laura put into organizing my  travels in Zimbabwe was simply uncanny. You read my mind half way around the world; providing a mixture of adventure in the bush at the elegant tented camp site in Mana Pools, to the visit with Tabby’s son Thomas at his school to the stimulating dinner party at the Swifts and ending with an entertaining visit with Judy and Kate Travers and the Hamiltons at their delightful Imire Ranch. And, of course it was a special treat to travel with John in his beloved immaculate 1993 Land Rover, at not over 60 kph I might add, seeing the back side of Zimbabwe, enjoying his wealth of knowledge and good humor.

Again a heartfelt thanks to you and your entire organization for a memorable visit.

BOB WATERMAN – July 2012

Our fifth safari together and as full of wonder as ever. You are a great guide and a terrific friend. Can’t wait for our next adventure with you.

KENDALL CROSBY – July 2012

Also, because of you, our kids’ minds and understanding of the world – its beauty, vastness – has been greatly expanded… Andrew and I are also forever changed and are already seriously planning some great adventures to come.

ANDREW CROSBY – July 2012

John, you are a good friend. I so respect you as a person, a guide and an advocate for wild creatures and… most importantly, the wildness and freedom in all of us. Our greatest gift. You carry this flame so passionately and remind us of who we are and what we can be, at our best. This reminder inspires and renews our love of the wild places on this earth. Thank you for caring for my family so deeply, for allowing us to relax in your tremendously good care… we are changed because of this experience.

PEDRO & PITUKA ORTEGA HEILBRON – July 2011

Dearest John and Nicci:

We want to thank you for planning such an extraordinary experience for our families.  It not only expanded our horizons to an extraordinary level but it touched our souls profoundly. The intensity of the experience was such that no member of our family will be the same…ever. But then isn’t that what happens when you go to Africa?

John, your kindness and your patience with such a big group was a true testament of the impact that having been born in that extraordinary place has had on you.  Your passion and love of the land was transmitted to all.  Even though some were more open than others in expressing their emotions and feelings about their experiences, make no mistake, the impact was deep and eternal for all of us.

And even though we teased about the birds, they were fantastic and Maribel said, while heading back home, that she was going to pay more attention to the many beautiful birds that fly and perch over her garden in El Valle…a country place she has that is about two hours from the city.

I must confess I saw some extraordinary birds with the most extraordinary color combinations.  Thank you for teaching us to look.

Again, thank you for the magic…especially: thank you for Oria!  W O W, what a way to end the journey.

All our love and maisha marefu to both.

Pedro, Pituka, Jaime, Marcela and Miguel…

You are a true treat. I have never learned so much in such a short time. Thank you for your excitement and passion, it is most certainly contagious! I just want to let you know how much this trip has meant to me. I will never forget all that I have learned and the wonderful memories created during my time here. Hearing your stories by the camp fire was truly special and I can’t wait for the next time!! Some quotes that continuously popped up during my stay were from William Shakespeare:
1) “This most excellent canopy, the air, look you. This brave o’er hanging firmament, this majestical roof, fretted with gold fire.” – Hamlet (I thought of this every night as I looked at the stars.)
2) “I love this place and could willingly waste my time here.” – As You Like It
Thanks again

John loves to walk and is fit now as when he worked as a game warden 30 years ago.
