On Safari with John Stevens - Christmas in Africa

This year, some people have chosen to spend Christmas on safari in the warmth and mellow magic of Africa – enjoying the generous spirit and pure enchantment of Christmas, whilst an able and willing “someone else” mixes the cocktails, stuffs the turkey, cooks, cleans and tidies up – what a pleasure! All camps and lodges are open in Kenya, Northern Tanzania and South Africa in December right through into the New Year, while only a few remain open in Southern Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana, as the rainy season has arrived in these parts of Africa. Camps and lodges that are open make extra special plans for their guests over this time – exotic meals in secret locations, carols sung to the deeply moving accompaniment of powerful African choirs, champagne bush brunches, wild evening dancing around a bonfire and more! Perhaps this tempts you for next year?

Over the last year, Nicci and John have sent many people to countless wonderful places in Africa. Sometimes, John has privately guided his guests; other times, drawing from his vast knowledge and experience, he has created their own private safari itinerary and they have travelled independently. Recently, Nicci attended the World Travel Market in London, meeting old friends and colleagues from the safari world and coming away with a host of fresh information, bright ideas and renewed enthusiasm for all that this truly remarkable continent has to offer.

Following is a selection of exciting photographs, many taken by John himself, portraying the extensive choice available when planning a safari. It’s not always easy to choose, but there will be a style that suits you down to the ground!
