Gabon Magazine
Gabon boasts the rainforest that has it all and that's why, in less than a decade, it plans to become the world's foremost destination for African equatorial ecotourism, welcoming more than 100,000 visitors a year
Gabon also offers one of the last pockets of wilderness in Africa with its wealth of rainforests, mangroves, savannahs, lagoons, rivers and canyons. Its 13 national parks boast a staggering amount of wildlife, from sea turtles and whales, to forest elephants, rhinos, gorillas, buffalo, and numerous exotic plant and bird species found only in Gabon. It's also the only place in the world where you can see hippos surfing on the beach.
Who would have been most amazed? The wild animals at Ivindo National Park, when they caught sight of the Hollywood actress wandering through their rainforest domain last year, or the star herself when a herd of forest elephants stole her scene

Vanity Fair's Guides of Africa
The April issue of UK Vanity Fair will include an article in the travel section entitled Guides of Africa, in which John Stevens is featured.
Travel Warning for Zimbabwe Lifted
Good news for tourism is that the US government travel warning for Zimbabwe was lifted in October 2006. You may still hear stories of electricity and water shortages in the country and these, sadly, are true but, thankfully, do not affect you on safari, as camp or lodge water and power are solar- or generator-driven.
It really is worth considering Zimbabwe for your next safari - space is still fairly easy to come by, the per night cost is the lowest of any African safari destination, with standards on a par, and you will almost have the place to yourself. Make the most of this!
Animals in Action
In November 2007, an extraordinary, weeklong safari during one of the most exciting periods for wildlife activity in the South Luangwa National Park, in Zambia, is being organised.
For anyone who has a passion for African wildlife and would like to learn more on safari, this is the ideal trip. With daily game-drives, night-drives, walking safaris, special guest speakers and specialists (Dr Katy Payne, Jonathan & Angela Scott, Jonathan Truss, Phil Berry, Derek Solamon, Manda Chisanga and Laura Barwick), slideshows, presentations and practical demonstrations, there will be something for everyone at this wildlife symposium. Each day you will be able to take advantage of outstanding photographic opportunities on early morning and afternoon/evening drives with some of these specialists. You will have the chance to meet other local experts and personalities at bush breakfasts, lunchtime presentations, evening barbeques or sundowners on the banks of the river. Walking safaris will also be on offer, giving you the chance to see, hear, feel and smell Africa.
